 11/23/10   Mustangs 2011 Schedule
Excelsior Springs, MO – The Missouri Mustangs will be entering their 5th year as a member of the Central Plains Football League when the season kicks off in the spring of 2011. In early November, the Mustangs were given their schedule that will include 5 home games and 5 away games. The CPFL has added 7 teams to the league which brings the total of 12 teams for 2011. The league has been divided into 2 conferences and 2 divisions in each conference.
 06/03/10   Preview Semi-Final Playoff Matchup
It's not the grand scale of Mizzou vs. KU, nor does it necessarily match up to the weekly gridiron of a Friday night high school football game, but the Central Plains Football League semi-final playoff between the 8-0 Missouri Mustangs and the 4-5 Topeka Thunder is a matchup viewers will not want to miss. Both teams are coming off of wins, the Mustangs recently victorious in their last game of the season resulted in a first round bye, while the Thunder edged out the Kansas City Bulldogs last weekend, resulting in this matchup.
 02/26/10   Mustangs Football on the Air
On Thursday February 25, the Missouri Mustangs football team and the JPEG Show Network ran by James “JP” Peuster came to an agreement to do the play by play for 8 of their 10 game schedule for 2010. James has done sports play by play for over 14 years from ABA games to the Arena Bowls in Las Vegas. James has also done many local high school games and also done many interviews with pro athletes. James will record his play by play for all the home games and 4 away games that will include a trip to APFL teams in Council Bluffs and Sedalia. The other two are league games in Topeka and Independence.

 01/29/10   Mustangs are looking for ladies for their dance team
The Missouri Mustangs Football Team are looking for women (at least 18 years of age) to audition for the Lady ‘Stangs Dance Team. The Lady ‘Stangs will perform at each home game during the season (early March through late May 2010) as well as interacting with fans during pre-game tailgating, half-time shows, contests and other various appearances throughout the community during the season. Auditions will be held January 23, 2010 with the location to be announced soon.
 03/23/09   Coaching Changes for the Mustangs
The owner of the Missouri Mustangs, Terry Winfree reported on Monday March 23 that coach Maurice Dukes will move into another position in the organization that will most likely be in the front office and will no longer be calling the plays for the defense.  03/15/09   Mustangs Lose Opener for the First Time
Since the league started 3 years ago, the Mustangs have opened against the Tigers and are 5-0 all time, until the 2009 season. The Mustangs started the contest without three key starters, QB Matt Sullivan, LB LaKaito Barr-Miller and offensive lineman Manu Savea.  12/24/08   Mustangs add three players that will make an impact
When the Missouri Mustangs owner contacted Craig Estopare about the offense coordinator spot, he knew he was getting more then a coach. He was getting a football fanatic who has a long phone list of some great athletes in the area. On the last day of mini-camp, the Missouri Mustangs added Craig Estopare as the Offensive Coordinator to their coaching staff. The Missouri Mustangs of the Central Plains Football League concluded their three day mini-camp this past weekend as they prepare for the 2009 season which starts March 14th 2009 against the Junction City Tigers.  07/07/08   2008 Season Comes to an End
The Missouri Mustangs 2008 CPFL season ended on Saturday June 14th losing 48-30 to the Mid-Missouri Outlaws in the semi-final round of the playoffs. The Mustangs finished the season with 9 wins and 2 loses and won the CPFL West Division. I want to thank the following coaches............
 06/02/08   Playoff Schedule
The East division winner Independence Bulldogs secured the No. 1 seed, and the West division winner Missouri Mustangs settled for No. 2 seed. Both teams will receive first-round byes and will host second-round games June 14.
 05/20/08   Playoff Scenarios
Out of the 8 teams in the CPFL, 6 will make the playoffs. The two division winners will receive a 1st round bye and will be seeded #1 and #2 depending on record and head to head match-up if there is a tie. The next 4 teams will be seeded based on overall league record. As of right now, we know who the six teams are, but the seeding for the playoffs is still up for grabs.....

 01/15/08   A Mustang Signs With AF2 Team
Missouri Mustangs WR Jared Smith received an invite to the Kansas City Brigade training camp after their last tryout, but was later told by the coaching staff that he needed more experience. Jared will get that experience this year as he will move from his Liberty, Missouri home to Oklahoma City and play for the AF2 Yard Dawgz.
 01/03/08   Missouri Mustangs Donate to Local Charities
Sometimes people get too wrapped up in the rat race of the holiday season and we forget about those that are in need. This year, the Missouri Mustangs coaches, players and fans donated to a couple of charities for local kids that are not as fortunate as us. Due to the deadlines of the charities, the Mustangs had less than a week and we rounded up a total of 36 brand new toys to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation and 50 winter coats to the foundation, Coats for Kids.

Missouri Mustangs DB Shane Mathews is proud of his son Zach Mathews who is a sophomore football player for the Lawson Cardinals. Zach, who is the starting outside linebacker and contributes as a halfback, won the Class 2A Missouri State Championship on Friday November 23rd against Blair Oaks, 38-17.

Ever since the Mid-Missouri Outlaws captivated me with their performance in Wichita, Kan., against the Wild, I have tried to remain close with the team by covering as many of their games as I could or reading about them in the newspaper or just making conversation with the players at Total Fitness Gym.
 06/11/07   SEMIPRO FOOTBALL - League champions
Chad Jackson kicked a field goal from about 20 yards Sunday to give the Mid-Missouri Outlaws the Central Plains Football League championship. His kick with 2 seconds left gave the Outlaws a 42-39 win over the Missouri Mustangs
 06/01/07   Rematch could turn into another classic
The last time the Mid-Missouri Outlaws and Missouri Mustangs played, the game ended in dramatic fashion. After the Mustangs had taken a 35-34 lead with six seconds left, the Outlaws got an extra chance to the score the game-winning touchdown. They received an extra play after time had expired because of a defensive penalty. With the ball at the 25-yard line, the snap sailed over quarterback Kyle Middleton’s head and into his team’s own end zone. Middleton ran back and scooped up the ball, ran forward and threw across his body for the game-winning touchdown.

Wichita, Ks. - This game was more than a score. These guys play for nothing but the love of the game and yeah the Wild players get 150.00 a game but it wasn’t about that this night. If not for the first quarter this would have been a more competitive game.

On a muddy rain socked day, the Missouri Mustangs staged an impressive rally but fell short Saturday night in a 32-21 loss to the Mid-Missouri Outlaws.
 03/06/07   Big Contributors from a Small Town
The Missouri Mustangs minor league football team signed four players from the small town of Lawson, Missouri. Josh Harris, Chase Hite and Josh Hyatt who all graduated from Lawson High School in 2003 and Shane Mathews graduated in 2001. “The guys from Lawson are the type of players you want on a team. These guys work hard and never miss a meeting or practice”. GM Terry Winfree said.
 02/11/07   MISSOURI MUSTANGS Add More Staff
This past week the Missouri Mustangs rounded out their coaching staff and added a trainer. General Manager Terry Winfree is happy to announce that Maurice Dukes has accepted the coaching responsibilities of the Mustangs Defense. "Maurice brings to our young team the leadership I'm looking for to run our defense and has a good understanding of eight man football rule", GM Terry Winfree said.
 02/07/07   Missouri Mustangs 2007 Schedule
The front office of the Central Plains Football League released the schedule for the 2007 season to the team owners. Each team in the league will host at least 3 home games and the rest of the schedule will be on the road, including a trip to Wichita to take on the Wild who play in a 9,000 seat arena. The teams in the league could play up to 10 games each that include non-league play. The Missouri Mustangs will open up the season at home against the Topeka Tornadoes on Saturday, March 31st.
 01/14/07   Missouri Mustangs will Travel to Wichita
The Missouri Mustangs have agreed to travel to Wichita on Saturday May 12th, 2007 to play an indoor football game against the Wichita Wild. The Wild are a professional indoor football team that play all their games at the 9,000 seat Kansas Coliseum.
 01/14/07   Missouri Mustangs Sign 14 Players
On a icy cold Sunday afternoon in Excesior Springs, the Missouri Mustangs signed 14 players to 1 year contracts to play football for the 2007 season. General Manager Terry Winfree said "we signed many local players and a few others were from as far as Lee's Summit and Hamilton Missouri".
