 06/24/08   Outlaws win CPFL title
The Mid-Missouri Outlaws have won their second Central Plains Football League championship. The Outlaws beat the Independence Bulldogs 49-30 in the title game on Saturday in Independence, giving them back-to-back championships in the first two seasons of the CPFL. The league expanded from four teams to eight this season and saw Mid-Missouri, which went undefeated last year, lose a pair of games. The Outlaws (11-2) fell to the third seed in the playoffs and had to play a wild-card game while the top two seeds enjoyed first-round byes. “It was an awesome season,” said Travis Jobe, co-owner of the Outlaws. “It’s such a long season. Gosh dang 13 games, it’s almost an NFL season. ... I think this was maybe a little more sweet than last time just because of suffering two losses during the season, being the No. 3 seed and having to go through the wild card and all that stuff.”........
06/21/08   Outlaws set for championship game
The road had more bumps in it, but the Mid-Missouri Outlaws are back in the same position as a year ago — playing for the Central Plains Football League championship. The Outlaws travel to play for the title against the Independence Bulldogs at 5 p.m. today at the Pop Warner Field in Independence. Admission is $5 for anyone 16 and over. “We’ve endured a lot more this year,” said Travis Jobe, co-owner of the Outlaws. “This year, we’ve had a lot more games plus the competition has stepped up a ton this year than what we had last year.” The Outlaws (10-2) beat the Missouri Mustangs in the final seconds of the CPFL championship game last year — when the league had just four teams. The league added four teams this year — including the Bulldogs — and Jobe said this year’s game could be just as thrilling. The teams split the regular-season series, each winning on their home field........
06/16/08   Outlaws beat Mustangs in semifinals
A stout defense helped the Mid-Missouri Outlaws get back to the championship game of the Central Plains Football League. The Outlaws had five interceptions and held the Missouri Mustangs scoreless in the second half Saturday evening to earn a 48-30 win in their CPFL semifinal game in Liberty. The Mustangs outscored Mid-Missouri 8-6 in the first quarter and took a 30-28 lead into halftime. The Outlaws (10-2) scored 14 unanswered points in the third quarter to take the lead and added six points in the fourth quarter......
06/08/08   Mid-Missouri rolls into semifinal round
The Mid-Missouri Outlaws won their first game of the Central Plains Football League playoffs in a big way. The third-seeded Outlaws defeated the sixth-seeded Topeka Savage 59-6 on Saturday at State Fair Community College. The Outlaws dominated the Savage for the second time this season with help from a commanding offense and key defensive stops. They beat Topeka 55-6 in a road game. Mid-Missouri’s Marcus James started the scoring on the first play of the game. James took the kickoff and maneuvered through Savage defenders on his way to the end zone. The touchdown gave the Outlaws a lead that they never relinquished. .........
06/02/08   Outlaws can’t keep up with Bulldogs
The road won’t go through Sedalia to determine the 2008 Central Plains Football League championship. The defending league champion Mid-Missouri Outlaws lost 61-52 to the Independence Bulldogs on Saturday in Independence. Independence secured the No. 1 seed, and the Missouri Mustangs settled for No. 2. Both teams will receive first-round byes and will host second-round games June 14. The higher seed will host the championship game on June 21..........
 05/20/08   Playoff Scenarios
Out of the 8 teams in the CPFL, 6 will make the playoffs. The two division winners will receive a 1st round bye and will be seeded #1 and #2 depending on record and head to head match-up if there is a tie. The next 4 teams will be seeded based on overall league record. As of right now, we know who the six teams are, but the seeding for the playoffs is still up for grabs..........
04/27/08   Handling pressure - Outlaws now 6-0 after rout of Junction City
The target on the Mid-Missouri Outlaws’ back keeps getting larger and larger with each victory. The undefeated semi-pro football team from Sedalia rolled over another opponent, the Junction City Tigers, 43-18 Saturday afternoon to remain unbeaten at 6-0. “Pressure is something that is earned,” said co-owner and player Travis Jobe. “Anytime you have something to play for you play harder. Today was an important game but we kept the momentum going.”
04/13/08   Outlaws control Savage in rout
The Mid-Missouri Outlaws spent a lot of time on the Topeka Savage’s end of the field Saturday. The Outlaws’ defense dominated the Central Plains Football League game in their 55-6 victory in Topeka, Kan. Mid-Missouri sacked the Topeka quarterback 12 times, forced four safeties and intercepted one pass. The Outlaws offense sputtered early, leading only 16-0 at halftime. They began to heat up in the third, pushing their lead to 28-6. They scored 27 points in the fourth quarter........
 04/05/08   Unbeaten Outlaws clobber Ravens
The Mid-Missouri Outlaws rolled out their high-powered offense against the St. Joseph Ravens on Saturday afternoon. The Outlaws pushed their record to 4-0 as they scored on all four first-half possessions on the way to a 54-0 win. After jumping out to a 28-0 lead at halftime, the Outlaws rotated many players into the game who seldom see action. Outlaws co-owner Chad Jackson saw that as a positive for his team. “The biggest thing was that we got a lot of players in today that usually don’t get to play,” said Jackson. “A team is only as good as their bench, and we were able to get a lot of players in today. It’s going to make us better down the way, especially when we play teams the caliber of the Bulldogs of Independence and the Missouri Mustangs.”
03/30/08   One thrilling finish - Outlaws score game-winner with two seconds left
The Mid-Missouri Outlaws needed some last second magic to keep their undefeated record intact. The Outlaws got a touchdown with two seconds remaining Saturday to defeat the Independence Bulldogs 28-25 to push their record to 3-0. Quarterback Kyle Middleton and wide receiver Jerry Young combined for two scoring passes in the fourth quarter, each coming with the Outlaws trailing in the game.  03/25/08   Outlaws thunder past Lightning 79-18
The Mid-Missouri Outlaws gave up their first points of the season Saturday in Springfield. They led 19-6 after one quarter, 33-6 at halftime and 60-6 after three quarters...............
03/22/08   Tigers’ Defense Keys First Win

03/15/08   Outlaws seek repeat in growing league
Winning a league title might be a little tougher this season for the Mid-Missouri Outlaws semi-pro football team — but the Outlaws aren’t about to change that goal. “I think this year’s going to be better because we have a lot more depth than we did last year,” said linebacker Caleb Campbell. “I expect us to get a championship and win — that’s what I expect.” The Outlaws went 6-0 last year in the Central Plains Football League and won the championship game on a last-second field goal. The Outlaws not only won the four-team league, but they did so in dramatic fashion at times — including a last-second win against the Missouri Mustangs on a play that eventually aired on ESPN..........

02/15/08   Minor league football team has Western flavor
The professional football season may be over, but it marks the beginning for arena league and semi-pro football teams such as the St. Joe Ravens, whose season started last month. The St. Joe Ravens are a semi-professional, eight on eight football ball team that play on an outdoor field, as opposed to playing indoors in an arena. They belong to the CPFL, or Central Plains Football League and have been around the area for years. Unfortunately, not too many people are familiar with the CPFL, or even knew the St. Joe Ravens even existed. To the many that do not get a chance to play college football, the St. Joe Ravens may be your alternative.

 06/20/07   Paperboy wants in
Ever since the Mid-Missouri Outlaws captivated me with their performance in Wichita, Kan., against the Wild, I have tried to remain close with the team by covering as many of their games as I could or reading about them in the newspaper or just making conversation with the players at Total Fitness Gym. Little did I know that I would soon be getting real close with the boys in black, real close.

06/09/07   Rematch could turn into another classic
The last time the Mid-Missouri Outlaws and Missouri Mustangs played, the game ended in dramatic fashion. After the Mustangs had taken a 35-34 lead with six seconds left, the Outlaws got an extra chance to the score the game-winning touchdown. They received an extra play after time had expired because of a defensive penalty. With the ball at the 25-yard line, the snap sailed over quarterback Kyle Middleton’s head and into his team’s own end zone.  05/13/07   WILD COME OUT SWINGING BUT MUSTANGS JAB LATE
Wichita, Ks. - This game was more than a score. These guys play for nothing but the love of the game and yeah the Wild players get 150.00 a game but it wasn’t about that this night. If not for the first quarter this would have been a more competitive game.
05/08/07   Beaten Outlaws show love of football
They may not have names like Jesse James, Billy the Kid or Butch Cassidy, but their indomitable spirit is beyond compare. When I decided to tag along with the Mid-Missouri Outlaws semiprofessional football team on its fourhour road trip to Wichita, Kan., I had no idea what to expect.
 04/21/07   Mustangs Blow Past Tornadoes
It was one of the first warm days of spring, windy but come on its Kansas and the Mustangs and Topeka Tornadoes didn’t disappoint. Five seconds into the first play on a fly route, Jared Smith and Matt Sullivan connect for a long TD. The Tornadoes offense in what was starting to look like a blow out scored on a seam route to #2, making the score 6-6. Shoot out??

The CPFL plays on a field that is 50 yards long by 28 yards wide which has a recipe of a lot of scoring and you can tell the fans enjoyed the faster pace of football.
03/04/07   Weather doesn't damper Outlaws' exhibition opener
Driving rain, wind and cold weather couldn't stop the Mid-Missouri Outlaws football team from opening its first full season with an exhibition game Saturday at Sedalia Middle School. Rain had turned the field into a muddy mess, but the Outlaws dominated play and beat the East Central Missouri Eagles 22-0 win. "I think we have a pretty solid crew," Outlaws co-owner Chad Jackson said. "It was a horrible day and the field was horrible, but I thought we did pretty good.
