LIGHTNING HOLD FOOD DRIVE
The Springfield Lightning held a can food drive last week at a team meeting that is being donating to the Kitchen of Springfield, MO. Donations came from players, coaches, Lightning Staff, and even fans. The Lightning are trying to make a positive impact in their community and are doing things they never did in the past. When ask how he thought the team looked this year this is what veteran running back Antonio Kelly had to say " We look good. We look 100 times better than last year. We're committed and focused, and I think it'll come out positive." LIGHTNING NOTICE FAN SUPPORT
The Springfield Lightning are gaining some attention in the area prior to the season starting. " Every week I see more and more fans out here watching us driving by and waving, it's great for us and the community. The town police have even been stopping by to watch us." WR/DB Coach Robert Cook. The team wants to thank all the fans of theirs coming out on these cold day to support us. Even those of you who were to cold to get out of your cars. The Springfield Lightning our always happy to have supporters out there so feel free to stop by one of there practices and show your team spirit. |

LIGHTNING MAKE UP TRYOUTS EXTREMELY SUCCESSFULL
The Springfield Lightning held make up tryouts for players and walk ons to have another opportunity to make the team. "It was as successful as the 1st tryout if not more." said Coach Eugene Walker. The number of guys and the talent level was at an all time high. The Springfield Lightning's coaching staff has changed, which has enabled players to set the bar a lot higher this year. |

Lightning Suiting Up In Referee Suites?
Selected Lightning members helped put on a flag football tournament at Summers At The River. The Springfield Lightning refereed the event, and helped with statistic. This was in all a great time and should be happening again in the near future. The tournament started at 10:00 AM and ended late in the day. Anyone interested in setting up a flag football tournament in the Springfield area should contact the Lightning about helping host the event. Thanks to those Lightning members who made this event possible. |
